Faculty Research Committee (FRC)
π¬ Purpose & Scope
The Faculty Research Committee (FRC) functions as the regulatory body reporting to the Faculty Board.
It is responsible for recommending financial allocations for research activities of academic staff members
and ensuring effective governance of faculty research initiatives.
β Responsibilities
- Call for applications and recommend research allowances for academic staff members.
- Monitor progress of research proposals submitted for research allowance funding.
- Evaluate and select proposals for Faculty Research Grants.
- Monitor progress of approved Faculty Research Grant projects.
- Address any research-related matters directed by the Faculty Board.
- Submit an annual summary report of activities to the Faculty Board.

π₯ Procedure of Appointment
The Faculty Board shall invite applications from academic staff members and appoint the Chairperson
and members of the Faculty Research Committee (FRC) in accordance with the approved composition.
π Composition
- An academic staff member (Senior Lecturer Grade I or above) as Chairperson.
- Six (06) academic staff members with a strong interest in research, preferably representing all Departments.
- The Dean of the Faculty as an ex-officio member.
π Selection of Members
Members shall be appointed by the Faculty Board.
β³ Duration of the Term
Three (03) years for all members.
π Meetings
The Faculty Research Committee shall be chaired by the Chairperson and shall meet not fewer than
six (06) times per year.
π Storage of Documents
- All records shall be maintained by the Convener for the respective term.
- Proper handover shall be completed at the end of the term to the incoming Convener.
- All records shall be securely stored at the Deanβs Office under the supervision of the DR/SAR/AR.
π Guidelines / SOPs
FRC approvals and minutes shall be submitted to the Dean. Confirmed minutes shall be tabled at the Faculty Board meetings.
