Sir Ponnambalam Ramanathan Faculty of Visual and Performing Arts (SPRFVPA) Library
The Sir Ponnambalam Ramanathan Faculty of Visual and Performing Arts (SPRFVPA) Library was established in 1992 at Maruthanarmadam to meet the information and knowledge needs of students, academic staff, and other members of the Faculty. The Library houses a specialized collection of more than 5,000 printed materials and 1,000 non-print materials covering areas such as Dance, Music, Painting, Sculpture, and Religious Studies. These collections support both academic studies and artistic pursuits, making the Library a valuable resource centre for students, academics, researchers, and practitioners in the field of visual and performing arts.
Musicology Corner at the Library, Sir Ponnambalam Ramanathan Faculty of Visual and Performing Arts
The Musicology Corner was established in 2023 at the Library of the Sir Ponnambalam Ramanathan Faculty of Visual and Performing Arts (SPRFVPA) to enhance access to and facilitate the effective use of non-book materials related to music. The project was implemented with financial support from the Kandiah Karthigesan Trust Fund.
The Musicology Corner provides a specialized space where students, particularly those following Music programmes, can access and utilize a wide range of music-related non-book materials, including audio and audiovisual resources. These resources support students in their academic studies, practical learning, research, and appreciation of musical traditions.
The establishment of the Musicology Corner has strengthened the Library’s capacity to provide specialized resources and services for music education and research. It also contributes to the preservation, accessibility, and effective utilization of valuable music-related resources within the University.
